As well as bringing together up-to-date resources and information, Asiphephe serves a unique online community space where different people and interest groups can connect with and support one another. We hope that you will take the time to join in a conversation or to share your experiences with other users.

If this is your first time visiting the website, take a few minutes to browse through the multimedia and resource sections and to visit our discussion forum.

Asiphephe is a safe, inclusive and respectful space for all LGBTIQ Africans and their allies, so don’t be shy about getting involved.

The Asiphephe website has been developed by Gay and Lesbian Memory in Action (GALA), a Johannesburg-based centre for LGBTI culture and education. Please visit the GALA website for information about our work or to learn more about the contemporary experiences of LGBTI people in Africa.

The Asiphephe initiative is supported by the embassy of France in South Africa
